Get Ready for Gap Year Exploration Month this February!

Last fall, a group convened at the our conference in Orlando to determine the future of Gap Year Decision Day, an initiative that helps us collectively and collaboratively promote the gap year option. The next evolution of Gap Year Decision Day is here and it’s bigger than ever! A month long, to be exact. Along with EnRoute Consulting, GO Overseas, USA Gap Year Fairs and TeenLife, we invite you to join us in celebrating Gap Year Exploration Month this February! Gap Year Exploration Month is a shared initiative of students, educators and others who want to promote the benefits of a gap year.    This year’s improvements include a shiny new logo (thanks YearOn!) and three dedicated toolkits designed specifically for programs, educators and students. Each toolkit offers targeted suggestions for that group and a special challenge for 2019, as follows:

TOOLKITS Organizations Hold an in-person or virtual information session about your program during the month of February. Educators / Guidance Counselors Create a gap year bulletin board in your school’s hallway highlighting gap year programs and info. Current Gap Year Students / Alumni Write an Op-Ed for a local periodical or pitch a gap year story to the press

The beauty of this effort is that you can get creative! Think of ways to make this initiative work for you and your community. As an organization, educator, alumni or even a parents, you are already planning events in Feb, use #explorethegapyear to stretch your promotion further.
